For masters of folk art from the Dribinsky district, the republican holiday "Kupalye" ("Alexandria gathers friends") is a holiday of the Belarusian soul. Tatyana Sirotina , head of the regional House of Crafts of the agro-town of Korvochino of the Dribin centralized club system, shared this opinion on the eve of the republican festival. “The masters of our House of Crafts are old-timers of the holiday in Alexandria, because we have been participating in it from the very beginning. Every year we come to the Kupala with a full team. This year it will be 5 masters who will present 11 types of crafts. We bring to Alexandria the weaving of paths and belts, products from wicker and straw, textile dolls, woven and embroidered towels, spiral weaving, bast weaving, vytinanki and much more. And we not only show them, but also invite all guests of the holiday to touch the Belarusian traditional culture - we hold various master classes,” she said.
Preparation for the holiday at the masters of the Dribinsky district is always serious. “For us, this is not just an opportunity to show our skills. "Kupalye" for us is like the second New Year. In the Mogilev region, craft houses of all districts are very friendly with each other. And Alexandria gives us the opportunity to see old friends, share experiences with each other, peep something new and take it into service, make new acquaintances and share good emotions. This gives a charge for the whole next year until the new summer, - shared Tatyana Sirotina. - Every year craftsmen from other countries come to Shklov land. And these are other cultures, some of their approaches to traditional crafts. And we are all like one big and friendly family. Everyone is ready to communicate, make friends, share skills and secrets. Once, colleagues from the Baltic States introduced me to loop weaving from a vine.
This year, the main theme of the decoration of the Dribinsky farmstead at the festival is the Kupala wreath. “Our farmstead will be decorated with a large Kupala wreath of herbs, flowers and straw. We will also offer guests a wide variety of wreaths and head ornaments,” she said.
Over the long years of its existence, the holiday in Alexandria has become so beloved and traditional that it seems as if it has always existed. “Our Kupalye is a holiday filled with Belarusian traditions and culture, the Belarusian soul. He is kind, bright and hospitable. We would like to see more guests come to us every year. Our culture is unique. And I really want to show it as widely as possible, ”summed up Tatyana Sirotina.
