MP: Belarus' development program for 2021-2025 aims to improve quality of life

2 February 2021

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus' development program for 2021-2025 aims to improve the quality of life, Chairwoman of the Standing Commission on Health, Physical Education, Family and Youth Policy of the House of Representatives Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak told BelTA.

“The social section of Belarus' development program until 2025 focuses on the quality of life: increasing life expectancy, improving accessibility and quality of medical care, reducing mortality rate among the working-able population. Here I would like to note that a new wording of the law on healthcare will come into force soon. It also pursues this goal,” Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak said.

Another important priority of the program is a happy family. "Here we are talking about family policy, about the traditional family. We want this family to have at least two children. Therefore, a lot of attention is still paid to stimulating birthrate, supporting large families, and developing a family capital program,” the MP said. “Traditionally, a lot of attention gets paid to young people. Work is concentrated on improving the quality of education, including professional education, the realization of the right of young people to participate in the life of the country through youth councils and parliament. As a result, all this will help to improve the demographic situation and create conditions for a happy life."

The 6th Belarusian People's Congress will be held in Minsk on 11-12 February 2021 to discuss Belarus' social and economic development program for 2021-2025. The congress will bring together 2,700 delegates and invitees.
