Belarus' foreign trade up by 15% to exceed $46bn in H1 2023


In H1 2023, Belarus' trade in goods and services increased by 15% year-on-year and exceeded $46 billion. The foreign trade surplus was estimated at $167.3 million, BelTA informs citing the statistics posted on the website of the National Bank.

Foreign trade in goods remained on the growth track. In June 2023 the export of goods rose by 5.4% month-on-month and amounted to $3.3 billion. The import of goods grew by 3.2% to reach $3.4 billion. As a result, the foreign trade deficit in goods shrank from $237 million in May 2023 to $177 million in June 2023. All in all, in H1 2023, the trade deficit in goods was estimated at $1.2 billion.

The trade in services greatly contributed to sustaining foreign trade surplus. In January-June 2023, the trade in services was valued at $1.4 billion. The export of services amounted to $4.2 billion, the import of services stood at $2.8 billion.
